This Senior Leadership role will lead the IOCC Shift Managers, Staff Deployment and the Airport Operations Control (AOC) manager/team ensuring that the IOCC and AOC operates safely, cohesively and effectively on a 24/7 basis. The objective is to ensure world class standards and best practices are achieved and that operating concepts and processes are continuously challenged and adjusted to keep pace with passenger growth at Toronto Pearson Airport to achieve the corporate objective of the Best Airport in the World.

The Incumbent will report to the Director IOCC and will act on behalf of the Director, IOCC during periods of absence and will be required to fulfill senior leadership positions within an Emergency Operations Centre when activated.

Job Description
Position Summary:

This Senior Leadership role will lead the IOCC Shift Managers, Staff Deployment and the Airport Operations Control (AOC) manager/team ensuring that the IOCC and AOC operates safely, cohesively and effectively on a 24/7 basis. The objective is to ensure world class standards and best practices are achieved and that operating concepts and processes are continuously challenged and adjusted to keep pace with passenger growth at Toronto Pearson Airport to achieve the corporate objective of the Best Airport in the World.

The Incumbent will report to the Director IOCC and will act on behalf of the Director, IOCC during periods of absence and will be required to fulfill senior leadership positions within an Emergency Operations Centre when activated.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership for the ISM/Staff Deployment and AOC teams to create a shared vision and lead them to Execute Flawlessly every day.
  • Inspire exceptional behaviours by Leading, coach, and develop the ISMs and AOC manager with an emphasis on developing leadership skills, operational capabilities and to provide a high level of excellence.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the ISM team is capable of making quality and timely decisions for day-of operations and timely communication to applicable members of the Day Of team and other management as required
  • Oversee the development of a proactive training program for the ISMs, Staff Deployment and AOC teams. Oversee initial and recurrent training requirements for all employees on job requirements required to support the Airport operations team
  • Develop and build strong relationships with key business stakeholders (both internally and externally) to ensure effective cross departmental collaboration and teamwork
  • Demonstrate ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure the ISMs, Staff Deployment and AOC teams maintain a focus on customer centricity and Passengers are our passion.
  • Develop and implement a quality assurance program for the department to ensure that services exceed standards and generate positive customer and passenger feedback
  • Developing a broad knowledge of all GTAA programs and accountable to ensure the delivery of these programs by the ISMs, Staff Deployment and AOC teams
  • Accountable to become proficient with IMS and the leadership roles. Accountable to train the ISMs and AOC personnel in IMS
  • Participate and perform incident investigations and contribute findings for debriefs, EmMS and SMS reviews
  • Ensure Health and Safety is paramount within the IOCC to deliver zero injuries as an annual objective
  • Develop and manage annual budget and business plan aligned to the Corporate Strategic Plan. Ensure the ISMs operate within the various department budgets when determining overtime for other units within the IOCC
  • Strong decision-making skills and demonstrates a sense of urgency to deliver operational excellence
  • Ability to successfully manage under pressure and respond to critical and or changing priorities
  • Ensure resources and tools are available to build and support a high performing team
  • Identify priorities to meet changing needs, determine resources levels and ensure the ISMs successfully manage the real time operational aspects of Toronto Pearson airport within the IOCC
  • Manage changing priorities and effectively oversee the management of emerging operational issues
  • Identify operational trends, engaging the team to formulate solutions/recommendations and overseeing the planning and development of SOPs for execution
  • Establish performance metrics and evaluate training deliverables against objectives to ensure continuous improvement
  • Manage and maintain an effective team consistent with core beliefs and values that are based on engagement, empowerment and passenger experiences
  • Solid business acumen and business improvement mindset to solution immediate issues and to identify trends to adjust plans and SOPs and implement corrective
Job Requirements
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 10 years’ Senior Leadership experience managing multiple direct and indirect reports in a matrix organization ideally in a 24/7 operations environment
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Aviation Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience at a large International Airport, Air Navigation service provider, Civil Aviation authority, Airline, Transportation, large Industrial Environment or Logistical operations.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an airport environment in an Operational capacity with demonstrated experience in serving a large and complex customer base
  • Proven understanding of business planning processes and key business metrics
  • Solid knowledge of airport operations
  • Experience working within a unionized environment
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
