Safety Coordinator

The Safety Coordinator will provide support to Aviation Safety Manager by performing coordinating activities related to the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) which has been developed in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Canadian Aviation Regulations. This role will be working out of Toronto ON.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible and accountable to the Aviation Safety Manager for the following:

Participating in the daily review of aviation safety reports for the purpose of determining the scope of investigation, occurrence owner, and event classification;
Entering aviation safety reports, risk assessments, and other aviation safety data into the safety database;
Processing e-Reports and creating occurrences (e.g. import e-Reports, acknowledge report submitters, open new safety assessments and investigations);
Maintaining a document retention (filing) system for all aviation safety related documents (e.g. records) not retained in the safety database;
Coordinating the delivery of SMS training, this includes tracking training requirements and maintaining training records;
Organizing safety committee meetings (e.g. preparing and distributing agenda and taking meeting minutes);
Preparing and distributing reports to support the monitoring and analysis of trends in hazards, incidents and accidents;
Promoting safety on an ongoing and regular basis (e.g. uploading files to Sunwing Airlines Operations Website);
Additional tasks as assigned by the Aviation Safety Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary education in a related field;
Prior experience in the aviation industry, preferably in one of the following functional areas: Flight Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, In-flight Services; Ground Handling considered an asset;
Demonstrated knowledge in the use of computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio;
Demonstrated organizational, planning and administrative skills;
Effective communication skills (including report writing);
An understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations

ENVIRONMENT AND SCOPE:
Fast paced, deadline oriented work environment;
Able to work independently and share responsibilities within a team environment;
Volume varies seasonally;
Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm.
