BCAC: Where are they now?

Rachel Min
Rachel Min was the winner of the BC Airports Committee Airport Ops/ Management Training Scholarship in 2012 when she was a student in the Airport Operations program. Rachel is currently working with the Vancouver Airport Authority and is an Environmental Analyst in Noise Management. As the analyst she undertakes noise initiatives, conducts data collection and analysis, engages with stakeholders and communities to discuss noise management at YVR, and responds to noise concerns from the public.

Rachel shares her journey and how she got to the position she is in today in our blog post on Where are they Now?  Rachel says, "It was my honour to be one of the scholarship award recipients. It lightened my financial burden during my studies at BCIT and helped me be more motivated to work hard and succeed. I hope someday I can also give back to the aviation community and help individuals achieve their goals."

Candace McKibbon Above and Beyond

Candace McKibbon
Each year Wings magazine celebrates 20 aviation professionals under 40 (years) for leadership skills, commitment and resourcefulness.

This year, Candace McKibbon, Airport Operations graduate, Executive Director of the BC Aviation Council and YVR Terminal Duty Officer, was named one of the Top 20 under 40!

Candace has shown a commitment to inspiring a love of aviation in others, most recently through a new blog on the BCAC website, called Blue Skies Ahead.  Blue Skies Ahead is aimed at stimulating an interest in the aviation/aerospace industry by sharing information such as career interviews, aviation stories and industry expert advice.  The first two articles in the blog feature the careers of recent Airport Operations graduates Kal Manna and Nicole Gaudet.

Candace says she’s grateful to BCIT, "The Airport Operations program gave me the skills and network that allowed me to succeed in the industry. The networking opportunities, industry experience and practical learning provided through BCIT brought me into my career. I would not be where I am today without BCIT.”

Congratulations Candace!
