Airport Operations Class 14
check out a snow plow.
On the evening of July 7,  Brett Patterson (YVR Director of Airside Operations, and member of the BCIT Airport Operations Program Advisory Committee) led nine Airport Operations students on an in-depth airside exploration of TP312, Annex 14 and the YVR AOM.

In three evening hours while the runway was closed for maintenance, the students were able to look at, measure and investigate the application of regulated runway and taxi way markings, signage and navigation systems.  From handy mnuemonics to detailed explanations of how each system or sign is used by pilots and airside maintenance staff, layers of regulation were peeled away to expose the safety reasons behind many of the regulations. As an added bonus, the students got up close and personal with a variety of airside trucks and equipment such as grass cutters, sweepers, plows and even fire trucks!

Thank you Brett, for this great opportunity.
