Brigadier General (Reired) Don MacNamara |
On July 14,
Airline and Flight Operations Class 10 organized and hosted a special guest speaker, sponsored by the Canadian Airforce,
Brigadier General Don MacNamara. The afternoon began with a networking event that included members of the Airline and Flight Operations PAC, and students from the Airport Operations program, Maintenance programs, instructors and industry guests. Class 10 brought in coffee, tea and an assortment of cookies, muffins and sweets to make sure that no one went hungry while getting to know each other better!
The event was a practical application of communication, leadership and meeting skills students covered in AIRC 1001, combined with content focused on aviation history. With that in mind, the B. Gen discussed the history of aviation in Canada, highlighting the links between world events and the development of aviation technology.

A discussion of history naturally lends itself to a discussion of current events and a look at trends in aviation, and Don went on to point out that now, more than ever, aviation is a system that requires a range of expert, interdependant skills and trades. The future of aviation is bright for those with passion and commitment.
