The Vancouver Airport Authority has a 6-month term opportunity for a full-time Environmental Specialist in the Environment Department.
Key responsibilities include:
The Airport Authority is looking for a dynamic professional to join its Environment Department as an Environmental Specialist. You will use your unique combination of exceptional people skills and analytical ability to lead and implement environmental programs and projects. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will be responsible for taking the lead and for contributing to program areas including, but not limited to:
  • Environmental auditing
  • Spill response
  • Hazardous materials management
  • Waste management
  • Environmental training and awareness
  • Sustainability
The successful candidate will implement the program, as well as, manage budgets, projects and consultants. He or she will also monitor, evaluate, improve and communicate the program goals and results, all while working with airport employees and community representatives.
Key qualifications include:
  • University degree in Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering or a related field
  • Exceptional organizational and communications skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to make quick decisions
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental legislation
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in an environmental management setting
  • Experience in the delivery of projects on time and on budget, managing consultants, and liaising with industry, government officials and the public
  • Advanced computer skills
