Suncor is currently recruiting a casual Flight Follwer for the Calgary office.
Job Description
Flight watch consists of gathering information about flights (flight times, delays, fuel burns, etc), passenger loads, etc. This role also provides critical direction during any time of irregular operation / disruption of schedule to flight crews, ground transportation, Fixed Base Operators (other aviation facilities), to re-establish our normal schedule. This position is the first point of contact in the event of a flight related emergency and is responsible to initiate appropriate emergency response. We are currently looking for individuals for a casual/on-call opportunity.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maintain safety and reliability of daily operations of Suncor's aviation fleet and charter flights.
  • Support flight crew with lost luggage, reservations and resolutions of passenger complaints
  • Update and monitor crew schedules, flight times, duty hours and changes in flights or crew requests
  • Monitor load factors on flights to ensure effective utilization of seats
  • Liaise with AMEX travel to ensure booking accuracy and maximize passenger load
  • Handle all aviation charter requirements, itineraries, pilot and passenger manifests.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, CARs and Transport Canada regulations.
  • Monthly stewardship and performance reporting, provide aircraft and Aviation information to greater Suncor
  • Internal partner/ stakeholder inter-face between Suncor Aviation and various customer projects (i.e. Fly in Fly Out program)
  • Develop internal networks to enable client group projects
  • Contribute to a cohesive and effective team in a deadline driven environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • At least 5 years experience in Aviation operations is required.
 
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Requires Transport Canada Radio Telephone Restricted Operator Certificate - Aircraft
  • Familiar with Transport Canada and CARs regulations (specifically CBAA -604-705 on the requirements of flight following and dispatch. This includes aircraft usage, aircrew duty (duty day and crewing requirements), maintenance (dispatch limits for aircraft), and communication of weather to crew.
  • Familiar with Aircraft Scheduling and Ground operations
  • Knowledge of flight booking software
  • Knowledge of possible cross-team issues and inter-connectedness of the Aviation teams (Pilots, Flight Attendants, Ground handling) (in order to diminish daisy-chain issues)
  • Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments, changing priorities and meeting multiple deadlines
