Key responsibilities include:
- Managing various wildlife services contracts which involves: defining service performance standards; establishing and maintaining a contract performance management program; monitoring contracts for compliance; and supervising annual budget for wildlife management
- Establishing short and long-term plans for wildlife hazard mitigation
- Developing, reviewing and writing policies and procedures relating to mitigating wildlife hazards
- Conducting detailed statistical analyses on all wildlife related activity reports
- Representing and promoting the airport’s interests in sustainable wildlife management practices with municipal, regional, provincial and federal wildlife officials
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with air carrier and pilot safety management officials, as well as, internal stakeholders
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related scientific field
- Registration as an Applied Biologist or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Proven knowledge of aircraft operating characteristics, safety management systems and airport operations (including planning, design and management)
- Solid writing skills, particularly in the areas of business writing, plan writing and report writing
- Strong analytical skills including both inferential and descriptive statistics
- Demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to present to groups ranging from committees to public forums
- Excellent MS Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
