The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time acting assignment/term opportunity (to December 31, 2013) for an Environmental Technician in the Environment Department. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate is passionate about creating environmental change and is looking for an opportunity to work on interesting and varied environmental projects.

Key responsibilities include:
• Conducting environmental sampling programs including collection of surface water, groundwater and soil samples
• Providing analytical and technical support on environmental projects including hazardous materials management; spill prevention and response; construction monitoring; noise management; air quality; waste reduction and recycling initiatives

Key qualifications include:
• Diploma or degree in Environmental Studies or a related program
• Previous experience conducting environmental sampling for surface water, groundwater and soil
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Detail oriented
• Advanced skills in MS Excel with a working knowledge of databases
• Proven ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities
• Demonstrated team player
• Comfortable in both office and outdoor environments
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
