The Vancouver Airport Authority has a one-year full-time acting assignment/term opportunity (maternity leave) for a Credit and Collections Representative in the Finance Department.

Key responsibilities include:
• Identifying overdue accounts receivable and using initiative to take the appropriate action to ensure prompt collection of accounts and reduce exposure to bad debt
• Liaising with internal departments and external clients regarding credit and collection policies, monetary security requirements and collection action
• Preparing monthly aged receivable reports for management and departments
• Recommending uncollectible accounts for bad debt write off and/or third party debt recovery
• Filing appropriate legal documentation regarding bankruptcies/receiverships
• Performing risk analysis on clients to limit bad debt exposure
• Maintaining company DSO (days sales outstanding) target
• Recommending improvements to existing policies and procedures, and developing and implementing procedures in accordance with departmental requirements
• Participating in the collections module portion of the upgrade of Oracle from 11i to R12, including user acceptance training and testing

Key qualifications include:
• Completion of one to two years of post-secondary education
• Three years’ experience in a credit and collections role
• Proven ability to take initiative and use sound judgment
• Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships with internal departments and external clients
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to interpret contractual agreements
• Demonstrated credit assessment skills including knowledge of accounting practices and procedures in order to analyse financial statements
• Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Excel and Word
• Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Experience with Oracle Financials
• Completion of, or enrolment in a recognized credit management program would be preferred
