The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opening for a permanent, full-time Engineering Technician in the Engineering Projects Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:
·         Implementing and managing assigned capital projects including developing project scope, budget, schedule and quality based on stakeholder/client requirements and objectives
·         Managing design teams responsible for the preparation of drawings and technical specifications
·         Preparing RFPs, tender documents and contracts for design and construction phases, including scope of work definition, project specific technical requirements and project schedule constraints
·         Evaluating proposals, bids and quotations received
·         Managing construction contractors through the implementation phase to adhere to scope, schedule and cost, and participating in the commissioning, acceptance and turnover of the project
·         Providing leadership in the areas of construction safety and environment
·         Maintaining and managing the budget for each project by monitoring commitments and reporting on variances
·         Liaising with Airport Authority departments and stakeholders throughout project to ensure that projects meet the requirements of end users and are implemented with minimal disruption to airport operations

Key qualifications include:
·         Diploma or Certificate in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Building Technology
·         Eligibility for registration with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) is preferred
·         Knowledge of airport operations would be considered an asset
·         Superior oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills are essential
·         A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
·         Strong project coordination, scheduling, administration and management skills related to building construction projects
·         Ability to handle multiple activities and projects simultaneously, and determine priorities
·         Working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing and spreadsheet software applications
·         Must be able to obtain the Transport Canada security clearance
