First Air is currently recruiting (1)full-time Crew Scheduler to be based in Kanata

DEPARTMENT: FLIGHT OPERATIONS
AVAILABLE: IMMEDIATELY
CLOSING DATE: APRIL 24, 2013

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure all flights are effectively and efficiently scheduled with proper crew compliment.
• Monitor all flight delays and ensure crews remain compliant.
• Monitor and update AIMS data base as required.
• Ensure all Crews are compliant with Medicals, and licensing required to operate a/c type.
• Ensure all crews are scheduled and compliant with CARS and Collective agreements.
• Liaise with SOCC during Irregular Operations to ensure crew compliments and duty days are kept with in the CARS regulations.
• Assign next days flying to YFB based crews, liaise with SOCC to accommodate extra sections required.
• Call out of Hercules crew for scheduled flights.
• Track Crew illness, ensure crewing compliment maintained.
• Using the collective agreements crew any uncrewed duties.
• Book hotel and transportation requirements.
• Monitor all crew check-ins to ensure on time departures.
• Prepare all Travel itineraries and cross check all deadheading information, email to crews.
• Assist Manager of crew scheduling with VISA coding and receipt preparations.
• Reconcile crew meal allowances and provide to payroll twice a month.
• Shift work, holidays, weekends as operationally required.
• Travel as required.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager, Supervisor Crew Scheduling.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
• Grade 12 education.
• 2 years airline experience with 1 year related work experience.
• Knowledge of Company and Transport Canada Regulations governing air crews (including flight and duty time hours).
• Bilingualism in French and Inuktitut considered an asset.
• Knowledge of schedule blocking rules an asset.
• Familiarity with Sabre computer systems for booking airline reservations.
• Familiarity with PC (MS Word and Excel), AIMS.
• Working knowledge of collective agreements.
• Must possess strong problem solving skills.
• Must possess superior interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external customers and contacts.
• Must be adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Must possess an ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to work irregular shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays for 24-hour coverage.
• Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
