Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and conducting surface inspections and repairs of asphalt and concrete
- Controlling Foreign Object Debris (FOD) in the airfield by using FOD removal equipment and manual techniques
- Operating heavy equipment around active taxiways and runways to maintain grass control and signage maintenance, while satisfying wildlife, safety, and security mandates
- Providing snow and ice control - applying de-icing chemicals and/or aggregates and operating heavy snow removal equipment
- Maintaining drainage systems
- Painting markings and signage for vehicle and aircraft navigation in compliance with aerodrome standards
- Maintaining and repairing fence line, and providing yard, highway barrier, and seaplane ramp maintenance
- Assisting with equipment maintenance and special events and projects
- Support irregular operations (aircraft emergencies and incidents)
Key qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Some post-secondary education would be an asset
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, power tools and hand tools
- Strong work ethic with a high level of initiative and enthusiasm, and an ability to excel in a fast paced environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including communication and judgement are required so that operational issues are addressed in a professional and efficient manner
- A team player, capable of working both collaboratively and independently
- A strong concern for the health and safety of self and others
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - excellent computer skills in MS Office
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam
- Class 3 Drivers License and a clear Drivers Abstract
