Air Canada rouge is currently recruiting a Manager, Flight Operations Training.

The Manager, Flight Operations Training reports to the System Chief Pilot. Responsible for the planning and oversight of the various training programs necessary to ensure that AC Rouge pilots are capable of performing their duties safely and efficiently


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage SMS responsibilities in accordance with the Safety Management Manual;
• Liaise as required with Air Canada personnel involved with establishing crew resource requirements and planning initial and recurrent pilot training;  Act as point of contact between Air Canada rouge and the various providers of pilot training services;
• Responsible for applying Quality Assurance principles to ensure a high standard of instruction is provided by overseeing, in coordination with the Air Canada training department, a program to conduct monitors on all fleet assigned personnel that deliver ground based instruction;
• Ensure the Aircraft Type qualification and training programs are managed in accordance with CARs and IOSA Standards (as applicable);
• Ensure Aircraft Type training programs are developed and implemented in a timely manner to support the introduction of new policy, rules, instructions, and procedures, and new systems and modifications;
• Develop training strategies in conjunction with Chief Pilot Boeing and Chief Pilot Airbus as a response to data trend and error reports on aircraft type;
• Develop training strategies in conjunction with Chief Pilots (Type) to ensure continuous improvement and to communicate/train instructors in the adjustments as necessary;
• Oversee and coordinate all training events completed by AC rouge pilots, including company indoctrination training, initial and recurrent aircraft type training, annual recurrent training, Line Indoctrination Captain Qualification Training, Approved Check Pilot Training and other training as required;
• Strategize in the development and proving of all required scripting for training events in coordination with Chief Pilots (Type), Air Canada Training personnel and other providers of training services;
• On behalf of the Vice President, Flight Operations, promote and support safe and efficient flight operations at Air Canada rouge;
• Over see student progress through company indoctrination and transition course training from first contact after position award until release to line ops;
• Liaise as required with sim planners, line indoctrination planners, and Chief Pilots (Type) to ensure efficient progress through the training program and adherence to target training footprint;
• Responsible for ensuring consistency of product and standardization of training by liaising as required with Air Canada Training Dept and Training Managers;
• Organize Command Scenario Training Sessions;
• Hold signing authority for pilot expense claims; and
• Oversee the management of crew records and qualification tracking for pilots.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Education: University entrance minimum, university or college diploma preferred;
• Ability to use MS Word, Excel, electronic mail efficiently;
• Ability to develop PowerPoint presentations an asset;
Have or has held an Airline Transport Pilot License;
• At least 5 years as a qualified pilot for a Part 705 Canadian Air Operator or equivalent;
• Previous instructional experience in a flight operational environment is required;
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Knowledge of:
o Air Canada rouge Flight Operations Manual,
o A319 and B767 Aircraft Operating Manual; and
o Air Canada rouge approved training programs.
• Proven teamwork and administrative skills;
• Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations;
• Must demonstrate significant achievements in specific quality areas and/or issues; proven superior interpersonal skills, language skills, team skills, technical and leadership capabilities.
• Ability to communicate in both written and oral English at an advanced level is required. Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual (English/French) candidates.
