An exciting opportunity awaits you as the General Manager of the Charter Business Unit for the Gemini Group of Companies which includes Gemini Helicopters Inc (Gemini) and Airborne Energy Solutions Ltd (AES) organizations that are known as “oilfield service” companies with aviation capabilities. This position will have particular emphasis upon maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer care, and operational delivery as well as supporting our exciting growth plans.
The Charter Business Unit is focused on delivery a wide range of rotary and fixed wing charter services to customers throughout Western Canada utilizing the Gemini/AES combined fleet of over 60 aircraft.
Job Description/ Position Summary:
The General Manager of Charter has overall responsibility for the development, safe operation, and growth of the Charter Business Unit (BU) which consists of both Rotary and Fixed wing aircraft charter operations as well as provides flight operations support to the Surveillance & Production Management BUs. The General Manager of Charter is responsible for establishing long term charter customer relationships, the efficient flight operations support of the other BUs, and fill the Transport Canada role of Accountable Executive. This role will also be instrumental in the supporting the amalgamation of Gemini and AES into one focused, re-branded operating entity.
Responsibilities:
Financial
Develop and recommend annual operating and capital budgets for the BU.
Financial responsibility for achieving the Charter BU financial business plan.
Manage and supervise the Level 3 managers in the execution of their operational budgets.
Analyze the Level 3 financial budget performance .
Develop and recommend; Short-term (1 year) and multi-year plans for the BU.
Assist the Executive in completion of long-range (multi-year) financial planning.
Maintain positive KPIs for the BU.
Capacity Development
Accountable for the development of a HSE culture within the BU that is consistent with the Group’s vision and values.
Responsible for the development and implementation of the Corporate Operating System within the BU.
Responsible to ensure consistent and thorough flight training is maintained across all aircraft types and BUs.
Accountable for the development and execution of a multi-year succession plan within the BU ensuring the personnel staff capabilities meet or exceed the operational demand.
Recruit, coach/mentor, provide direction, and review the performance of the BU staff.
Provide verbal and written reports to management and clients as required.
Oversee systems development, research and improvement projects. Define and develop proposals on where the BU should be directing their focus while always putting client needs at the forefront of all projects.
Contract Retention / Development
Responsible for the strategic business development of the BU.
Accountable to ensure capacity development is aligned with new contract development and overall growth.
Act as the technical and operational lead for all BU customers.
Foster and develop relationships with mid to senior management of our clients’ organizations.
Provide input into sales and marketing process, based on customer needs.
Act as an advisor to special projects as necessary.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Proven business management experience
Minimum of 10 years in operational or general management role
Minimum of an undergraduate degree with a focus on business, or graduate of a technical diploma program with a combination of relevant experience
Rotary Wing Commercial Pilot License considered an asset
Fixed Wing Commercial Pilot Licence considered an asset
Knowledge of federal transportation regulations, CARS, Canada Labour Code
Knowledge of the oil and gas industry
