Position Summary:
The Crew Scheduler is primarily responsible for scheduling flight crew members in order to ensure company operational requirements are fulfilled. This role encompasses aspects of both advance crew planning and current (day-of) crew scheduling, with a secondary emphasis on the maintenance of flight crew records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce the monthly Flight Crew schedule based on a collective agreement, company regulations and Transport Canada requirements; disseminate the schedule to all affected personnel on a timely basis.
- Work closely with company Flight Followers to maintain the existing schedule on a day-to-day basis by adjusting for system changes, crew sickness and other system interruptions.
- Identify and reserve all sub-activities associated with the schedule in a cost-effective manner. These include accommodation, ground transportation, airline and jump-seat reservations.
- Coordinate various monthly items such as vacation bids, initial and recurrent Ground schools, Flight Simulator sessions and PPC checks.
- In conjunction with the Flight Following supervisor, maintain up-to date Flight Crew records.
- Assist company management in crew planning issues in order to ensure efficient crew utilization and proper staffing levels.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Windows-based software, especially the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and ability to learn new applications is a requirement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with frequent telephone inquiries/requests
- High degree of personal organizational, strong attention to detail and superior interpersonal communication and analytical skills are requirements
- Aviation experience and familiarity with scheduling software is a definite asset but is not a requirement
