The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time acting assignment/term (three years) opportunity for a Junior Project Engineer in the Engineering Projects Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of single and/or multiple construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Managing a program of assigned projects focusing on managing project requirements, scope, budget, schedule and quality of work
·         Preparing and delivering on implementation plans
·         Managing consultant design teams to adhere to scope, schedule and budget
·         Leading the preparation of Request for Proposal and Tender documents including scope of work definition, technical requirements and schedule constraints
·         Providing leadership in the areas of construction safety and environment
·         Maintaining and managing project budgets including forecasting costs and risk management
·         Liaising with internal Airport Authority departments and external stakeholders throughout the project 


Key qualifications include:

·         University Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and registration as an Engineer in Training with APEGBC
·         Minimum of two years’ work experience in the construction , design, or consulting industry
·         Design experience in any of the above disciplines is considered an asset
·         Knowledge of construction practices and standards, as well as airport operations, would be considered assets
·         Demonstrated project management skills including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, organization, coordination, negotiation, documentation and cost control
·         Effective communication skills (interpersonal, oral and written)
·         Proficiency in word processing, spread sheets, databases and project scheduling software (MS Project)
·         Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; experience chairing meetings and effective presentation skills would be an asset
·         Proven leadership experience with strong people and time management skills
·         Sound knowledge of contract law and contract administration process
·         Valid Class 5 driver’s license
·         Must be able to obtain Transport Canada security clearance
