World Computer Exchange

BCIT is now home to the first West Coast branch of World Computer Exchange (WCE). The World Computer Exchange at BCIT will receive used computers from both BCIT and the community at large, refurbish them with a suite of free academic software, and then give them to communities in need—both locally and internationally.
The non-profit organization is dedicated to addressing the millions of tonnes of e-waste inundating landfills every year, and to improving opportunities for youth in both local and overseas communities by re-purposing and supplying donated equipment for academic use.
“I am excited to see this dream come to fruition and proud that BCIT is the first school in North America to give a portion of its computers back to the local community,” says Hoby Chou, a BCIT business analyst and past student in BCIT’s Computer Systems Technology program. “The program aligns with BCIT’s focus on education, technology, and opportunity for youth. It also offers our staff and students the chance to work on global projects with the potential to benefit millions.”
In celebration of its official launch, WCE BCIT is holding a donation drive. To donate your used working computer equipment, visit the collections booth:
