General Manager, Screening Operations – Calgary International
Airport
GARDAWORLD is the largest security screening service provider at
a number of airports across Canada, ranging from the biggest airport to some of
the smallest. We work in a public-private partnership to ensure the safety and
security of the travelling public.
GARDAWORLD is recruiting for the
full-time position of General Manager at the Calgary International Airport
(YYC). This is a non-union position.
Job Responsibilities (include but
not limited to) Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness:
The
General Manager oversees the Pre-Board Screening Operation for the Calgary (YYC)
Division. The YYC division includes the Calgary International Airport (YYC),
Medicine Hat Airport (YXH), Lethbridge Airport (YQL) and Red Deer Airport (YQF).
The General Manager is responsible to ensure the division’s success and
adherence to the following:
1. CATSA’s Regulatory Requirements. 2.
GardaWorld's Financial Targets and Objectives. 3. Operational Requirements.
4. Security Requirements.
The General Manager ensures the divisions
success by:
1. Identifying Staffing needs for all Bases in Division
proactively in collaboration with Regional Operations Centre (ROC) and partners
with HR to plan and fulfil in advance of shortage of labour. 2. Monitoring
performance and develops recommendations for improvement. 3. Contributing to
both short and long term organizational plans in conjunction with GardaWorld’s
corporate vision. 4. Working strategically with union leadership on labour
relations issues. 5. Managing Level 2 Grievances. 6. Meeting regularly
with the Regional Director, Operations and reports on Base performance and
action plans. 7. Implementing human resources and training strategies in
collaboration with Regional Manager, Performance Programs.
Relationship
Management:
The General Manager is responsible for managing
relationships with all relevant government agencies, CATSA, Airport Authority
partners, GardaWorld Headquarters and Regional Employees, the local union and
other stakeholders.
Reporting to the General Manager are 4 Operations
Managers, 24 Checkpoint Managers, 1 Checkpoint Managers-Training, 1
Administrator, 2 Base Administrators, 1 Human Resources Advisor and 1 Scheduling
Manager.
Job Requirements
* Understanding of how to develop and
implement business strategies * Ability to develop and maintain an excellent
working relationship with the customer * Ability to manage and prioritize
multiple deliverables * Must have excellent communication skills; fluent in
written and oral English. Bilingualism is preferred. * Must have a desire
for service excellence and excellent customer service skills * Must have
shown good team work abilities and interpersonal skills * Must be attentive
to detail and able to think creatively * Must be reliable, independent and
able to handle stress
