Position: Crew Scheduler/Unlicensed Dispatcher
Status: Permanent part time
Location: Vancouver
Reports To: Manager, Operations Planning
Start Date: Immediately

As a key team member of the Flight Operations department the Crew Scheduler/Unlicensed Dispatcher will embody the Pacific Coastal motto of “People Friendly, People First” and will be expected to demonstrate behavior that respects Pacific Coastal Airlines’ corporate values. The successful candidate will provide excellent internal customer service while adhering to the confines of the Standard Operating Procedures. This role requires the candidate to remain professional and calm while providing effective and efficient time sensitive decision making, particularly while under pressure. In addition, the ability to work in an ever changing environment where multitasking and flexibility are key attributes will be paramount.

Reporting to the Manager of Operations Planning at YVR, the Crew Scheduler/Unlicensed Dispatcher will provide specific support such as but not limited to; working in conjunction with a counter-part to provide 7-day per week coverage. Candidate will assist with daily crew payroll duties, monthly crew payroll cut-off, building of crew pairings, assist Dispatcher on duty with crew reassignments both for daily operations and future planning, crew vacation planning/bidding, GDO (Stat) calendar management, tracking of crew training, prepare monthly credit budgets, and manage Amelia crew entries.

In addition, this position will require the candidate to provide backup relief for Dispatch as required. In this capacity, the candidate will be responsible for filing flight plans with the local Area Control Centre, monitoring progress of flights, updating various operational logs and answering radio calls from flight crew.


Qualifications and Skills Required:
• High School Graduate
• Must be able to obtain Transport Canada Clearance for Restricted Area Access
• Preference will be given to those applicants with completed TC generic dispatch exams and who have previous crew scheduling, planning and payroll experience.
• Possess a Radio Operator’s Certificate from Industry Canada
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Strong Computer skills (Web, Excel, Word, Amelia Reservation System)
• Basic math skills
• Strong problem solving skills, especially when working under deadlines
• Strong reading, writing and comprehension in the English language
• Communication effectiveness with our internal customers (flight crew)
• Understanding and ability to apply applicable regulations (i.e. Canadian Aviation Regulations) and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
