Station Manager, Cambridge Bay

Reports To: Director, Airports & Operational Performance and Director, Cargo Competition No: SMYCB14 Canadian North is looking for a Station Manager for our Cambridge Bay base. This position is responsible for both airport and cargo operations.

Responsibilities
 Airports:
 Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System program and demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety
 Provide leadership and overall management to the local Customer Service and Ramp Services departments, ensuring a focus is on the highest levels of customer service;
 Implement and monitor all Customer Service and Ramp Services standards and procedures, including service quality and reliability processes, ensuring the integrity of the Aurora Concierge
Services;
 Monitor initiatives designed to ensure all Customer Service Agents and Ramp Services Ground Handlers are capable ambassadors of Canadian North Inc.;
 Deliver Company strategic business objectives;
 Ensure all Customer Service Agents and Ground Handlers have the knowledge, attitude, and excellent customer service skills necessary for success, while challenging employees to continuously improve on service delivery;
 Ensure all Customer Service Agents and Ground Handlers are fully briefed and compliant with Transport Canada Regulations and all related training;
 Maintain excellent knowledge of Canadian North’s Safety Management System, and subsequently investigate and respond to all reports of incidents and accidents;
 Ensure a clean, safe, unobstructed work area is maintained and continuously practice proper safety habits;
 Assist the Director, Airports and Operational Performance, with the planning of staffing levels and recruitment of customer service and ground handling employees at the Cambridge Bay base;
 Promote good customer and supplier relations and positive public relations within the business and airport communities;
 Assist in response to customer comments relating to airport issues in a timely and appropriate manner;
 Assist the Director, Airport Operations, with preparation of the departmental budget as it pertains to airport operations at the Yellowknife base and with the development of profitability improvement initiatives while contributing to overall corporate objectives;
 Other duties as required.

Cargo:
 Management of cargo staffing requirements including scheduling, compliance, training and support
 Provide leadership and overall management to the local Cargo department, ensuring a focus is on the highest levels of customer service;
 Resolving customer service and operational issues as they arise
 Meeting shipment service standards
 Liaising with Manager, cargo planning daily to meet and maintain shipment standards
 Maintaining, liaising with and securing all equipment, facility and service contracts
 Managing expenditures and cost control of Edmonton Cargo operating budget
 Implement and ensure adherence to measurable performance standards related to customer service, cargo handling, administrative, accounting procedures and operational performance
 Develop local cargo handling processes to maximize the effectiveness of base operations and services

Qualifications:
 Minimum one year of operational experience in an airport and/or cargo environment;
 Previous experience in a supervisor or managerial role;
 Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable;
 Demonstrate high degree of emotional maturity and ability to operate under stressful
situations;
 Ability to work flexible hours;
 Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;
 Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills;
 Ability to work in a team environment;
 Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment;
 Knowledge of WHIMIS and Dangerous Goods Transportation guidelines and procedures considered an asset;
 A strong background in PC skills;
 Working knowledge of a unionized environment considered an asset;
 Knowledge of Sabre
 Clean criminal record
 Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with no stipulations
