| CORPORATE SAFETY OFFICER Reports to: VP of Flight Operations & VP of Maintenance Date of Posting: February 4, 2014 Number of Position: One (1) permanent position Closing Date: February 18, 2014 Position Availability: Immediately Location: Calgary SCOPE OF THE JOB/POSITION The Corporate Safety Officer is responsible to develop and maintain the Company Safety Program. The Corporate Safety Officer shall report to the Vice President, Flight Operations and the Vice President, Maintenance and will have direct access to the President and all Managers on flight safety related issues. JOB DESCRIPTION • Overall performance monitoring of the flight safety program; • Flight Safety Awareness and Training programs; • Information reporting and tracking systems and processes including the non-punitive incident reporting program; • Coordinate resolution of flight safety deficiencies that involve one or multiple branches; • Dissemination of safety awareness related information; • Emergency Response Plan; • Internal and external flight safety audit oversight; and • Liaise with the flight safety departments of external agencies on issues relating to flight safety; • Maintenance safety; • Office Safety; • Directs and supervises the auditing function of the Corporate Quality Assurance Auditor; • Liaise with Department Heads on the implementation of SMS policies and procedures and take the lead role within the Company in implementing SMS if/when this will be required by the regulatory authority; • Create a thorough annual safety report outlining the Company’s safety performance for the previous year; • Maintain the Company Safety Manual. QUALIFICATIONS The Corporate Safety Officer shall have extensive operational experience, normally achieved as a flight deck crew member. JOB REQUIREMENTS Proficient in the English language: both written and spoken • At least 3 years industry related work experience • Knowledge of aviation safety management regulations • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills • High degree of diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive security matters • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure TRAINING Additionally, the Corporate Safety Officer shall complete training in the following areas: • Aviation safety philosophy, including Safety Management System theory • Human Factors and Decision Making • Risk Management • Accident/Incident management and prevention • Aviation Safety Surveys • Internal Reporting Systems and Auditing Procedures • The Emergency Response Plan • Incident Investigation • Occupational safety • Audits Training shall include the Company Aviation Safety Officer (CASO) Training Seminar, and the Canadian Aviation Safety Seminars held annually. The Corporate Safety Officer’s professional development and currency should be maintained through other industry wide conferences and training courses. The Corporate Safety Officer will also undergo audit training provided by Air Canada, IATA or an equivalent organization.
