Reporting to the Manager, Retail Programs, this position is responsible for the development of new and continuing business opportunities for existing retail partners, including the implementation of new initiatives and business development to drive organic growth at Toronto Pearson.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for developing and overseeing new and continuing business opportunities for existing retail partners
- Work to deliver improved ASQ scores in retail categories
- Establish processes and methodologies to ensure category reporting is consistently delivered
- Evaluate revenue and sales performance of the program and ensure customer service and satisfaction improvements
- Develop pricing strategies and monitor market-basket items and prices
- Establish the value proposition for Duty Free & Specialty Retail banners
- Ensure pricing implementation is consistent with strategy
- Prepare tender and proposal documents, as well as participate in managing and conducting public tenders and requests for proposals and participate in recommendations in the awarding of Duty Free & Specialty Retail contracts
- Consult with stakeholders in the preparation of strategic implementation plans
- Identify trends and research innovative revenue generating opportunities
- Make recommendations, identify and explore creative and innovative new products and services to enhance the Toronto Retail experience for our customers by developing and preparing detailed discussion papers and business cases in support of recommendations
- Develop tools and documents for monitoring compliance while working with the Commercial Agreement Administration team to ensure tenant performance is monitored
- Identify systemic issues and propose a course of action to address and correct non-compliance with tenants
- Identify opportunities for policy changes/enhancements, research industry best practices in retail/duty free and ensure tenant compliance with all requirements, rules and regulations (ie. LCBO, WHO, federal and municipal)
- Participate in lease negotiations, prepare documentation, including draft legal agreements, and evaluate tenant requests for changes to terms
- Prepare and present revenue forecasts, budgets and monthly variance analysis reports
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or 3 year diploma in either Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or Commercial Property Management
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years direct experience in retail management, retail programs or commercial lease management
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in customer-account service/relationship management
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing and/or implementing retail programs and work plans
- Must possess demonstrated experience overseeing the work of consultants and contractors
- Must possess a valid Provincial Ontario Driver’s license
- All applicants must have a fully satisfactory work performance in his/her current position and a work record that is void of discipline and unacceptable attendance that would have a bearing on the duties, roles and responsibilities of the posted position

- Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision
- Possess strong relationship management and communication skills and have the ability to handle conflict situations with tact and diplomacy
- Skilled in developing work plans that deliver on program objectives
- Knowledge of customer-account service/relationship management
- Knowledge of commercial contracts/leases, including terms and conditions
- Knowledge of negotiation strategies and retail program/plans or strategies
- Knowledge of developing trends in tobacco, liquor, fashion, electronics and health and beauty
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills (oral, written and listening)
- Ability to interpret contracts; including terms and conditions and ensuring tenant/partner compliance
- Ability to deal with regulatory or legislative stakeholders and their requirements
- Ability to multi task, analyze revenue information and data, develop programs, trouble shoot, resolve issues, be proactive, as well as being flexible and adaptable to change in a fast paced environment
- Must possess strong computer skills, with the ability to utilize MS Office effectively
- Ability to analyze revenue info and data, develop programs, negotiate contracts and anticipate issues
