Job Opportunity: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - GROUND HANDLING
Location: Brampton Office - 8501 Mississauga Rd L6Y 5G8

Role:
The
Director of Operations plans, organizes, directs and controls activities of operations functions of ASIG Canada ground handling; responsible for the financial and operational performance of all departmental functions and activities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews and approves plans for control of budget spending, labor efficiency, customer service and staff utilization.
  • Reviews performance against operational plans and standards. Provides reports to subordinates on interpolation of results and approves changes in direction of plan.
  • Presents weekly and monthly performance reports to President/COO or MD.
  • Defines and recommends operations policy within the ground handling operations division.
  • Defines and recommends both short-term and long-term strategic plans and programs, together with supporting budget request and financial estimates.
  • Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower and facility requirement forecasts.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the corporation in establishing responsibilities.
  • Reviews and approves the setting of budgets throughout the Ground Handling Department.


Management Responsibilities:

  • Selects and maintains qualified personnel in all direct reporting positions.
  • Directs, monitors and appraises performance of immediate reports.
  • Identifies training needs and development requirements of subordinates.
  • Maintains appropriate communication within area of responsibility.
  • Keeps all employees informed of all Corporate and Global company activities and updates.
  • Consults with all segments of management responsible for policy or action. Ensures compliance with all BBA/ASIG policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and reports budget proposals and variances. Approves budget expenses up to authorized dollar amounts.

Requirements:

  • Airline industry experience required, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant management experience in the industry preferably on the ground handling side
  • Required undergraduate degree in business and/or economics
  • A proven track record working effectively as a member of an executive or senior management team, both domestically and internationally
  • Must be an excellent communicator able to communicate internally and externally in a highly professional manner, both oral and written
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time

Selection Criteria:
Salary will be determined based on experience. Selection will be based on candidate qualifications, company requirements and individual assessment results.
