The Airport Services Coordinator reports to the Manager, Customer & Technical Services and ensures the baggage handling system remains in operational order by effectively supervising operations and maintenance support personnel activities. Working in this dynamic environment, shifts are 12 hours long with shift schedules of five days on and five days off or variations thereof.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff including Baggage System Operators and Baggage Handling Technicians to ensure work is accomplished effectively, efficiently, and consistently with respect to productivity gains and employee relations.
  • Ensure adequate supply of all production tools and materials, janitorial supplies, safety equipment, replacement parts and new materials by monitoring inventory.
  • Maintains and repairs all equipment and facilities by effectively delegating and prioritizing tasks and duties to department personnel.
  • Ensures completion of projects/repairs by providing direction to staff and resolving problems.
  • Maintains all equipment and facilities in optimum working order by devising and implementing a preventative maintenance program.
  • Report status of equipment and system performance.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all pertinent subject matter by attending training seminars.
  • Review all system failure events and assist management in leading root cause investigation and related corrective action to ensure systemically resolved.
  • Ensure proper business continuity plans are in place to ensure contingencies can be activated when necessary.
  • Support safety program and coordinate health and safety initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Post- secondary education in mechanical/electrical engineering, a related field or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a production environment in a communications, leadership and relationship management role
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, multi-cultural business environment
  • Proven oral and written communication abilities: demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office
  • Conveyor experience, an aptitude to learn computer and electrical concepts and an aptitude for electrical and mechanical systems are all assets.
  • Pass a security background check and obtain an airport security identification badge and obtain airport drivers licence
