We currently have an opening for Director, FBO Operations (YYZ).


JOB PURPOSE:

To provide operational leadership in the Central Regional and ensure the achievement of business and financial results. To direct and manage all Fixed Base Operation (FBO) activities within the Central Region including Lineservices, Facilities and Customer Service, ensuring exceptional compliance with procedures and corporate standards and the highest level of safety and customer service. To support the growth and expansion of the company’s operations in the region. 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

To foster a safe work environment and a culture based on the guiding principles of the organization:

- Ensures the effective implementation of all safety standards and programs as well as compliance;
- Acts as Management Co-Chair on the local Workplace Health and Safety Committee; 
- Gathers information for occurrence report investigations and closings as well as ensures the prevention and investigation of all line service occurrence reports including notifying the applicable authorities (fuel spills, security infractions, etc.);
- Ensures all personnel respect the company security policy;
- Develops and maintains all necessary security documentation as required by Transport Canada and the GTAA;
- Works to build a culture that puts people first, and fully adheres to and implements all HR programs and practices.

To drive the growth and performance of the region’s FBO:
- Establishes short and long term plans for the development and growth of the business in the region in conjunction with the corporate functional leaders;
- Plans, organizes and directs the corporation’s operational activities in the region and is ultimately accountable for the achievement of the financial results of the FBO;
- Prepares budgets and financial forecasts for the region including CapEx based on a comprehensive understanding of the financial drivers of the business in the region;
- Maximizes the profitability of the operations in the region 
- Promotes the growth of the region through the development of existing capabilities and the identification of opportunities;
- Builds relationships in the region with key stakeholders including customers, prospects, tenants, external agencies and vendors;
- Manages the relationship with the GTAA in order to support the corporation’s growth plans.

To ensure a high level of customer service is delivered in all areas of the FBO:
- Directs the Customer Service function of the FBO to ensure it operates in compliance with the company’s customer service philosophy and continuously exceeds customer expectations;
- Provides positive and effective communications with all external clients by means of meetings, briefings and electronic methods;
- Provides support and leadership on all Lineservice operations activities, ensuring compliance with operating standards;
- Provides assistances and liaises with Skyservice personnel in order to provide solutions to the exception problems that internal and external clients present;
- Provides leadership to the Manager, FBO YYZ and the Manager, Customer Service YYZ;
- Ensures the effective management of performance of all employees within the function, including providing coaching and direction as needed.

To maximize the revenue and profitability of the facilities while ensuring their effective operation:

- Secure new and existing tenants to ensure the facilities are at full occupancy and foster effective relationships with tenants including resolving any tenant issues;
-Oversees the effective functioning and maintenance of all facilities systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, support equipment as well as landscaping, snow removal and the buildings overall for both the FBO and Hangars;
- Leads all facilities improvements and renovations including the management of contractors;
- Ensures compliance with all regulations including Transport Canada/GTAA airport access, Line Safety Systems including controlling the access systems and issuance of any access keys, automatic and primary security control doors; 
- Acts as a liaison for any and all projects that require permitting from the GTAA including construction.

To support the development of the operational function across the entire organization:
 
- Identifies opportunities to improve standard operating procedures to ensure optimal safety and profitability;
- Collaborates with other FBO Management personnel to explore and capitalize on opportunities to improve performance and gain efficiencies;
- Leads projects and initiatives targeting the overall success of the company’s FBOs including the delivery of Customer Service.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- 10 – 12 years’ experience in a leadership role at an FBO including intimate knowledge of Aviation/ FBO or Commercial ramp experience; 
- Significant track record in securing tenants, achieving financial results and driving performance improvements;
- Experience with facility construction and continuous improvement an asset;
- Strong knowledge of AOSM, AFHT, and other programs related to the function;
- Successfully completed and maintained Esso/ExxonMobil/Premier Care line service and/or fueling training or equivalent;
- Possess Restricted Area Pass as well as TC security pass clearance; 
- High safety orientation as well as experience with SMS / safety management processes; 
- Superior customer service and interpersonal / relationship skills;
- Strong leadership skills including ability to manage, coach and develop performance;
- Collaborative; 
- Flexible to work additional hours and be on call as required.

EDUCATION:

- Post-secondary education. A degree or diploma in Aviation or Business Management is considered an asset.
