Reporting to the Manager, Aviation Ground Operations, the Supervisor Aviation Operations Control Center (OCC) is a matrix and team based environment directly accountable for oversight of the safe economical day to day flight operations of all Sunjet aircraft. The supervisor is responsible for the safe, economic and timely operation of the published flight schedule and will make the required changes to the flight schedule when and as required when event dictate.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure compliance with federal and local regulations regarding Operations Control Center, flight operations, as well as establish Suncor aviation operations policies.
- Develop, evaluate and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for OCC
- Authorize, regulate and control Suncor flights according to government and company regulations to ensure safety of flight
- Responsible for the economical service delivery and operational control of day to day OCC operations.
- Capture of the costs and Key Performance Indicators
- Respond to emergency calls, overdue aircraft and deal with Irregular Operations
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures, emergency plans, SOP's, ASP, etc.
- Ensure training needs of team are met, as well as regulatory needs and attend required training
- Must have completed the Dispatcher course and passed the Transport Canada Tests or be a licensed Dispatcher
- Investigate complaints/issues from customers/vendors and provide recommendations for resolution, file reports as required
- Create and Maintain manuals/Emergency plans / Flt ops/ OCC manual, Dispatch Manual etc.
- Provide direction and the evaluation of staff and programs.
- Perform supervisory duties, i.e., recommend hiring, promoting, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, approval of leave time and overtime, delegate work
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, with Some Post-secondary Training in Aviation Operations preferred
- Military or Airline Operations Dispatcher work experience is required. (Type B Co-dispatch)
- Related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
- Experience in Aviation operations is required (at least 5 years)
- Requires Industry Canada Radio Restricted Operator Certificate
- Must have a Valid Aviation Dispatcher License or ability to attain
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport
- Past Supervisory Skills demonstrated with a team building background
Skills and Knowledge:
- Advanced Computer skills and use of IT products in a flight operations environment
- Knowledge of airline and corporate flight operations
- Knowledge of airport facilities, Security systems and baggage systems
- Working Knowledge of Transport Canada and CARs regulations
- Familiar with Aircraft Scheduling and Ground operations in an active flight Operation scenario
- Knowledge of cross-team issues and inter-connectivity of the Aviation teams (Pilots, Flight Attendants, Ground handling) (in order to diminish daisy-chain issues)
- Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills
- Ability to balance multiple assignments, changing priorities and meeting multiple deadlines
- Effective complaint resolution and experience in tense working environments
- Skilled in forging effective working relationships and strong team player
- Ability to Mentor and Lead a team in an intense Operation situation
