The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Manager, Marketing. Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate is a dynamic, creative, relationship-builder who will be a pivotal member of the Airport Authority’s Marketing & Communications Team, promoting the retention and growth of air services at YVR, in addition to leading a broader approach to destination marketing. Success will be found in developing strong partnerships with airlines; local, national and international tourism organizations; and business communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing an integrated marketing strategy in line with the corporate strategic plan concentrating on:
- Leveraging marketing opportunities with air carriers,
- Connecting business partners with the tourism industry and
- Creatively positioning YVR as a unique and strategically situated airport and destination
- Working closely with the Air Service Development Team, supporting airline marketing efforts once the service has been secured and creatively addressing underperforming service
- Developing and implementing a tactical marketing plan to promote YVR in an innovative fashion including, but not limited to sales calls, trade shows, unique joint marketing campaigns and advertising
- Directing and assisting the activities of representatives in other locations
- Through partners and agencies, leveraging resources in a manner that will produce results and achieve objectives
Key qualifications include:
- Undergraduate degree, plus at least five years’ aviation, travel trade and/or tourism experience, preferably in sales and/or marketing
- Comprehensive understanding of the airline industry
- Superior presentation and communication skills including the ability to prepare and deliver high quality sales presentations
- Existing network of relationships in tourism and aviation
- Creativity and motivation
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of high-performing peers
- Strong marketing expertise with a keen understanding of traditional and social media
- Proven ability to work independently, while meeting deadlines and performance targets
- Reputation for being highly organized with the ability to development and implement comprehensive marketing plans with a variety of industry partners
- Highly skilled in using various software applications including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
