Assistant Flight Dispatcher

Responsible for assisting in dispatch duties as directed by a Transport Canada certified Flight Dispatcher.  Pre-plan aircraft performance analysis and preliminary flight plan for approval by the controlling flight dispatcher.

 Key Activities:
  • Self-brief on weather and operational conditions.
  • Team briefing with the flight dispatcher.
  • Provide clerical assistance to the Flight Dispatcher.
  • Data entry for Operational Flight Plan before passing plan to the Flight Dispatcher for approval and distribution.
  • Prepare Operational Flight Plans under the direction of and for the approval of the Flight Dispatcher(s) on duty.
  • When directed, issue timely information to stations and other departments, through available communications systems, concerning Operational Flight Plan preparation, fuel loads, passenger information, Aircraft assignment and substitutions, delays, cancellations, unscheduled landings, diversions, and overflies.
  • Check and revise the various publications which will be used for the flight dispatch purpose.
  • Monitor dispatch systems for proper functionality and accurate data.
  • NOTAM clean up in Flight Planning System as directed by the Chief Dispatchers or Manager.
  • Respond to all phone calls from Fuel Agents and stations.
  • Respond to Flight Crew requests for any information which does not impact on Operational Control.
  • Respond to other incoming communications (radio, telephone, facsimile, e-mail and other electronic messaging systems) as long the subject matter does not impact on Operational Control.
  • Perform non-operational control related data input, filing, communication and other duties as directed by the Flight Dispatcher(s) on duty.
  • On direction from the Flight Dispatcher, calculating revised Operational Flight Plans when circumstances warrant.
  • Ensure that any information pertaining to abnormal operations, unusual conditions and activities or operational irregularities is reported to the Flight Dispatcher.
  • Coordinating airport handling when diversions to offline airports are required as directed by the Flight Dispatcher.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Flight Dispatcher, Chief Dispatchers and Manager.
  • Other related duties as assigned. 
  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, the safety of co-workers and customers.
Qualifications:
 
All Jazz Aviation LP Flight Planning Assistants are required to have successfully completed the Transport Canada FDMET and FDOPS exams and be 21years of age.
