The Role
TERM (April 2015 – December 31, 2017)
Pay Rate: $68,038 - $70,758 - $73,587 - $76,531
Reporting To the Manager, Technical Data Center, this job will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing and assessing construction documentation received from external sources, and assimilating key information into existing facility record drawings.
  • Communicating information related to airport facilities and infrastructure to key internal and external partners – both verbally and graphically.
  • Developing procedures and standards relating to maintaining information on airport facilities.
  • Updating, maintaining, and creating facility record drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Performing CADD system troubleshooting and provide technical advice and support to internal partners.
  • Conducting analysis; assessing proposed developments against relevant airport and aviation requirements.
  • Programming in LISP, VBA, and SQL, creating customer routines to enhance efficiency.
Basic Requirements
  • Diploma from a post-secondary program in Civil, Engineering Drafting, or Architectural Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Thorough understanding of the interrelationship of the various disciplines and utilities within the building and site facility plans.
  • Knowledge of construction and as-built drawings, specifications and the relationship between architectural, civil, mechanical and electrical systems within site and building projects.
  • Knowledge of mathematics normally associated with drawing preparation and interpretation.
  • Ability to visualize, and the design skills needed to create professional drawings based on verbal description or sketch.
  • Excellent computer-related troubleshooting and program development skills required for drawing and database management.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of drawing reproduction equipment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Sketch-up software.
  • Self-motivated, independent with exceptional organizational skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or Architecture programs is an asset.
  • Experience with AutoDesk (Revit) or other 3D modeling technology is an asset.
  • Experience with Building Information Management (BIM) technology is an asset.
  • Experience with the AutoTurn or AeroTurn program would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of airport operations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes.
  • Excellent communication, time management and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
