This role will be responsible for the development, implementation and management a comprehensive community engagement program to enhance Toronto Pearson’s community reputation with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Job Description Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement community relations plans and stakeholder engagement strategies to build Toronto Pearson’s relationship with a variety of stakeholders.
- Design and execution of public consultations, community liaison groups, neighbourhood outreach, educational programs and other engagement initiatives.
- Develop and implement the guidelines of the GTAA’s Public Participation Protocol.
- Align, integrate and support community engagement initiatives and best practices with other corporate teams, such as Public Affairs, Government Relations, Communications, Corporate Programs, Planning and Operations.
- Oversight of the Toronto Pearson Community Investment Program, including executing strategies to strengthen Toronto Pearson’s relationships with major community partners, airport stakeholders and reporting of community impact.
- Collaborate with the GTAA Employee Ambassador Program to implement and activate employee engagement in the community.
- Represent the Authority on a variety of community advisory committees.
- Responsible for being a customer centric Leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs
Job Requirements Qualifications:
- University Degree in General Arts, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of strategic experience in communications, stakeholder/community relations, public affairs, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing high-performance, multi-stakeholder teams
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License G
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated success in leading community and stakeholder relations initiatives, community engagement programming, and public engagement processes; knowledge of the IAP2 Principles of Public Participation an asset
- Highly motivated, adaptable and diplomatic with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced and team-oriented/matrix environment
- Exceptional communication and listening skills; able to professionally handle emotional situations with tact and empathy at community forums, meetings and events
- Ability to understand, use and communicate specialized information to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to understand perspectives from a variety of sources, often in conflict, and look for mutually beneficial outcomes
- A reputation as an “influencer”, with the ability to build relationships
- Ability to occasionally work off-hours and weekends, as required. The successfully incumbent will be placed on an on-call rotation list.
