DEPARTMENT: Flight Operations LOCATION: Toronto, ONREPORTING TO: Vice President Flight Operations CLOSING DATE: May 6, 2015
This is a Transport Canada approved position and fulfils the requirements of the “Chief Pilot” position defined by CASS 725.07(2) b.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- • Overall management and supervision of the Flight Crew
- • Oversight of the processing and auctioning of any flight crew reports
- • Oversight of the development and/or implementation of all required approved training programs for Sunwing pilots
- • Developing and/or maintaining company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- • Oversight of all Deployed Operations, which will include liaising with management of other carriers
- • Liaising with aircraft manufacturer and other service providers with respect to issuing of amendments to the appropriate type related procedures, systems, performance and planning sections of the Flight Crew Operating Manual
- • Reviewing acceptability of proposed airports and routes of the operation
- • Responsible for Crew Scheduling
- • In conjunction with the VP Flight Operations liaising with the VP Maintenance and Engineering in reviewing proposed amendments to type MEL
- • Issuing Flight Operations Bulletins (FOBs), Flight Operations Administrative Memos (FOAMs) and company NOTAMS, as required
- • Assisting in the allocation of resources both human and financial
- • Active member of the standards committee
- • Performing Emergency Response responsibilities as required
- • Assuming any additional responsibilities delegated by the VP Flight Operations
- • In their absence, all responsibilities for duties shall be delegated to another qualified Flight Operations Manager
- • Disseminating safety information to ensure the effective implementation of the safety policy and that employees are made aware of their safety obligations
- • Encouraging reporting of aviation hazards, incidents, and accidents
- • Taking immediate measures to prevent secondary incidents/accidents and controlling hazards that are believed to pose an imminent threat
- • Investigating, analyzing, and identifying the cause or probable cause of all hazards, incidents, and accidents identified under the SMS, when assigned
- • Carrying out actions assigned under the SMS
QUALIFICATIONS
- • Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot License and a valid Instrument Rating
- • Have at least 5 years’ experience as pilot-in-command on large aircraft
- • Have at least 3 years’ management experience within the aviation industry
- • Have at least 3 years’ experience as a Check Pilot on large aircraft
- • Have at least 2 years’ experience in labour relations management
- • Previously holding the position of Chief Pilot will be considered an asset
- • University degree an asset
- • Demonstrate knowledge to the Minister with respect to the content of the Company Operations Manual, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Company Check Pilot Manual, and the provisions of the Regulations and Standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position
