Access to restricted and customs controlled areas at Vancouver International Airport are allowed for authorized persons only. In order to ensure those entering these areas are entitled to do so, access control points are set up to verify information on those moving in and out of these areas for purposes of work. Securiguard AVSEC (Aviation Security) trained employees posted at these various positions are required to be focused for extended periods of time at single locations, and consistently observe staff moving through these access control points for suspicious activity. Guards at these positions must also abide by and enforce all security program requirements as regulated through Transport Canada regulations and through Airport Operations Directives, that may be connected to the various access control points, and this must be done with a customer service oriented attitude at all times. Core duties include, but are not limited to: Prevent unauthorized access into restricted areas. Control access to restricted areas through verification of the RAIC (Restricted Area Identification Card) and proximity card verification. Ensure adherence to block pass / temporary pass requirements for those accessing the Restricted Area while escorting. Prevent backflow into restricted areas. Ensure Canada Customs and Immigration regulations and directives are enforced. Report emergency situations to the Security Operations Centre or Airport Operations. Assist in arranging escorts (vehicle or person) where required. Inspect vehicles entering the restricted area for unauthorized individuals and verify that each occupant is in possession of a valid RAIC. Report all program, security or customs violations to the Security Operations Centre. Access Control Point Guard Qualifications All candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain the following; A valid security licence. A Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
