The Vancouver Airport Authority has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior Technical Analyst (Database Analyst) in the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the Manager, Technology Services, the successful candidate must have a very strong technical skill set, with experience providing database administration services in complex, high activity, UNIX and Windows based business environments. He or she must exhibit a thorough understanding Oracle and Microsoft database architecture and administration. Experience with service delivery policies and procedures, and knowledge and adherence to best practice service guidelines are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing assigned responsibilities both independently and under direction of management
- Providing database performance monitoring using provided monitoring tools
- Documenting and implementing Oracle and MS SQL best practices
- Documenting operational steps and practices necessary to perform the assigned administrative duties
- Developing scripts to automate and monitor routine tasks
- Providing application support for Maximo and Oracle E-business Suite
- RMAN backup and restoration
- Evaluating products and upgrades for appropriateness, and overseeing and implementing system upgrade strategies
- Deploying new business applications and application updates
- Providing technical leadership to appropriate personnel on highly complex system administration activities
- Providing technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues
Key qualifications include:
- Completion of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 7 years relevant Database Analyst experience
- Demonstrated experience with the following:
- Oracle and MS SQL database
- Oracle RAC administration
- Maximo application
- Oracle EBS application
- Oracle Enterprise Manager
- Proven ability to identify and resolve performance issues
- Strong time management skills and the ability to complete activities within time constraints
- Strong team orientation and ability to contribute to realization of team goals and customer satisfaction
- Excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, proven by on-time, on-budget delivery of small-to-medium scale projects
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on-call, supporting 24x7 environment
- Experience with the following preferred:
- Solaris – Basic Knowledge
- Understanding of incident, change, and problem management processes (ITIL certification is a plus)
