The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time permanent opportunity for an Environment Specialist in the Environment Department, reporting to the Manager, Environment.

The Airport Authority is looking for a dynamic professional to join its Environment Department as an Environmental Specialist. You will use your unique combination of exceptional people skills and analytical ability to lead and implement programs and projects related to the environment and sustainability. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for taking the lead and for contributing to program areas including, but not limited to:
- Environmental auditing and assessment
- Spill response
- Hazardous materials, waste, energy and water management
- Environmental conservation & reduction strategies
- Environmental training and awareness
- Sustainability
The successful candidate will develop and implement programs, as well as, manage budgets, projects and consultants. He or she will also monitor, evaluate, improve and communicate the programs goals and results, all while working with airport employees and community representatives.
Key qualifications include:
- University degree in Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering or a related field
- Exceptional organizational, communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Sound judgment and ability to make quick decisions
- Extensive knowledge of federal, provincial and local environmental legislation
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in an environmental management setting
- Experience in the delivery of projects on time and on budget, managing consultants, and liaising with industry, government officials and the public
- Advanced computer skills
