| CHC Safety Summit 2016 |
The CHC Safety and Quality Summit began in 2007 and has developed into an internationally recognized 3-day conference with internationally recognized speakers and delegates addressing a range of current aviation-safety topics. According to CHC, the Summit is an opportunity to work with others to significantly improve the human side of safety in aviation.
One unique feature of the CHC Summit is a symbiotic relationship between Aviation Operations and the hosts. Students and instructors from the Aviation Operations programs are integrated into the Summit team, in the role of Ambassadors. Key to the Ambassador role is providing registration and breakout room check-in. In return, students meet and network with meet aviation professionals from around the world, and attend workshops that provide current real world perspectives on classroom education.
This year, Airport Operations Class 21 and Airline and Flight Operations class 14 gained valuable insights from key workshops presented by such well-known safety leaders as Scott Shappell, Dr Paul Dickens, and Sunshine McCarthy (to name just a few). BCIT's own Lynne Denison Foster also held a networking workshop, which was familiar to student Ambassadors, but was a well-received new addition to other attending the Summit!
By the end of the third day of the Safety Summit, the student Ambassadors were both tired and energized by this wonderful opportunity to join representatives of the aviation community from as far away as Australia, Nigeria, and the Netherlands and to find that sharing information and learning is an on-going process in aviation.
Thank you CHC for this wonderful opportunity to grow with the best.
