Reporting to the Manager, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, this position is responsible for supporting two key areas: 1) Building community trust and vocal champions for Toronto Pearson’s strategic objectives through advocacy, government relations and public affairs program support. 2) Supporting the public affairs and stakeholder relations team in government engagement, outreach to key businesses and aviation industry stakeholders, on issues of strategic importance to the GTAA.
Job Description
- Assist in the planning and execution of meetings, events and other public affairs activities.
- Support the development and maintenance of strong and effective relationships with government officials (elected and non-elected) and key public affairs influencers (boards of trade, industry groups, etc.) to enhance awareness, understanding and engagement in achieving the GTAA’s strategic goals.
- Assist with preparation and writing of community/stakeholder communication pieces such as information packages, letters, and a regular electronic newsletter.
- Gather background material, statistics, and other data to support the Director of Public Affairs and Managers of Government and Stakeholder Relations with correspondence, the creation of briefing notes for key meetings and ad hoc presentation materials.
- Delivering any additional project support to the Director of Public Affairs as required.
- Public Affairs issues management, conflict resolution and stakeholder relations management
- Responsible for being a customer centric Leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs
Job Requirements Qualifications:
- Must have a post-secondary degree in political studies, communication, or a related field
- Minimum 2- 5 years’ experience in stakeholder or government relations or in a government/political office
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
- Experience dealing with elected officials, diverse communities, community groups, community engagement programming
- Experience in managing and implementing programs that yield positive reputational growth Industry experience in aviation, airline and transportation is considered an asset
- Must have a valid Ontario G Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
