The Calgary Airport Authority (the Authority) is a private, non-share capital, not-for-profit Corporation, incorporated under the Province of Alberta’s Regional Airports Authorities Act. The Authority is responsible for the management, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Springbank Airport (YBW).
The Authority has significant interface with air travelers, airlines, tenants, regulatory agencies and three levels of government, economic development agencies and other stakeholders. The Authority has annual revenues of $CDN375 million and financing for major infrastructure investments is undertaken via the issuance of debentures pursuant to a $CDN2.990 billion Credit Agreement with the Alberta Capital Finance Authority.

Job Description:
The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Calgary Airport Authority will be afforded the outstanding opportunity to take an organization with huge potential through a period of transformational change, having just completed a ten-year major expansion program. Specifically, the President and CEO will be responsible for sustainably moving the organization forward by enhancing operations, finding efficiencies and seeking new opportunities for Calgary International Airport.

The President and CEO will report to the Calgary Airport Authority Board of Directors. The President and CEO will work closely with the senior leadership team as well as a number of key stakeholders such as airline leaders and representatives, business community representatives, organized labor representatives, other airport chief executives, industry organizations (Canadian Airports Council; Airports Council International), tourism partners and all levels of government.

Requirements:
• Senior-level executive and leadership experience in the airport or commercial aviation industry with progressively more responsible management experience within an organization exhibiting strong growth and undergoing significant organizational change.
• Possesses a very strong track record in air service development. Experience in marketing, as related to the goal of pursuing passenger and cargo traffic growth for the airport, both domestically and internationally.
• Experienced in the development and optimization of a successful airport hub that features international, domestic and regional air services across multiple carriers.
• Brings a sound knowledge of the Canadian and/or U.S aviation regulatory context as applied to airports, or comparable from abroad. Credible and well respected in the eyes of the regulatory community.
• Consideration also will be given to senior business executives with no prior airport or aviation experience, but with exposure to relevant or similar environments, such as infrastructure-intensive, multi-constituent sectors.
• Experience as a general manager with overall cross-functional responsibility for the development and management of an enterprise or complex organization.
• 20+ years of progressive experience in executing a growth¿oriented strategic plan within an organization of comparable scope, scale and complexity.
• Proven track record of progressive business success at various levels in multi¿ disciplinary environments.
• Functionally stronger in business development and other commercial and financial disciplines than in operations.
• Ideally, exposure to commercial and retail development activity.
• Experience in facilities development and capital program management, with a track record of on-budget, on-time delivery.
• Demonstrated strong project management skills in the context of direct management responsibility for large-scale initiatives involving significant dollar amounts and implications, a large staff and many diverse stakeholder groups.
• Has a strong customer service background and orientation.
• Experienced and comfortable working in the corporate finance environment.
• Experienced, effective and comfortable working with organized labour.
• Experienced and comfortable working in highly visible ambassadorial positions that have put him or her “in the spotlight” and “under the microscope.” Adept at dealing with the media on a regular basis.
• Experience dealing at senior executive levels with government, regulatory and community groups.
• Has a good international orientation, given the desire to increase Calgary’s international air service program.
• Experienced in effective leadership of and interaction with an executive team as well as with a governing board of directors.
• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college in business administration, economics, public administration, airport/aviation management, or engineering.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience with a base salary of $250,000+. Package includes a competitive benefits program.
