OUR WHITE HAT VOLUNTEERS Our world renowned White Hat Volunteers have played an integral part in YYC’s passenger experience since 1991. With over 400 passionate volunteers and over one million hours contributed, the program is a true testament to Calgary’s warm western hospitality and spirt of volunteerism.
OUR COMMUNICATIONS & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS TEAM As part of our ‘corporate reputation’ team, you will work closely with community and Team YYC partners to enhance the airport experience for our passengers and visitors. Our team is passionate and committed to ensuring the public are connected to YYC through our communications and community engagement programs. We are dynamic, energetic and collaborative, working closely with internal and external stakeholders on new and exciting programs and initiatives, and support each other to accomplish rewarding and quality work. WHAT YOU WILL DO The responsibilities of this role are vital to the success of the White Hat Volunteer program and YYC’s reputation and public image. You will inspire and motivate by aligning volunteers to our vision of being the Aviation Hub of Choice, and engaging the team in continuous improvement. Reporting to the Director, Community Engagement, your key responsibilities include: Oversee the recruitment, training and retention strategies of the White Hat Volunteer Program to enhance YYC’s overall airport experience.
- Oversee and implement comprehensive training programs to ensure volunteers are well informed in a variety of areas including customer service, passenger process, terminal operations, vehicle operations and safety.
- Continuously monitor and improve volunteer responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Coordinate and execute several small and large scale events in support of the volunteer recruitment, training and retention tactics and activities.
- Manage a team of three and over 400 volunteers; Oversee day-to-day activities of the Western Hospitality Office.
- Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to ensure a positive airport experience.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Solid experience managing large-scale volunteer programs and experience with recruitment, training and recognition programs.
- Experience with event management ideally for not-for-profit organizations.
- Proven leadership skills to an office team of three and over 400 volunteers driving continuous improvement initiatives to our White Hat Volunteer Program.
- High energy, passion for people and comfortability gaining commitment from multiple stakeholders.
- Confidence in making decisions that support corporate goals while engaging a very diverse audience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can deliver effective and engaging presentations.
- Ability to thrive in a busy and fast paced environment with constant interruptions and changing priorities.
- Tremendous organizational abilities with the ability to adapt quickly.
- High level of patience and a positive attitude.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule (day shifts).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain solid working relationships.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
