Saint John Airport Inc. is hiring a full time Airport Operations Specialist (AOS), who is a highly motivated self-initiating individual and a strong team player. This is a unionized position; therefore, hours of work and rates of pay will be as per the Collective agreement.
Reporting to the Manager of Regulatory Affairs and the Supervisor of Maintenance, the AOS performs a variety of the maintenance and repair functions across a broad spectrum of disciplines to various facilities and equipment at Saint John Airport in addition to responding to Airport Emergencies as an Aircraft Rescue Fire fighter (ARFF). This includes the operation of heavy and light equipment to remove snow, ice and other debris from airport surfaces; operation and maintenance of standard and specialized apparatus and equipment required to respond to aircraft emergencies; assisting or leading where qualified in carrying out repairs and routine maintenance to all airport facilities. The successful candidate must complete ongoing firefighting and other training programs as required by the employer, and maintains required ARFF certification levels.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
Either have or achieve airport firefighter certification within a 6 month period from the date of hire and accordingly must pass a practical physical fitness test for firefighters.
Have the knowledge and experience in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as dump trucks, snow plows, snow blowers, front end loaders, etc.
Must be willing to take specialized training in airport systems as required and perform functions such as, but not limited to, runway surface condition testing;
Those candidates who possess an existing fire fighter certification and/or a Province of NB journeyman’s licence would be preferred.
Must have at a minimum a valid Class 3E, New Brunswick driver’s license and must provide a motor vehicle abstract that provides information on your driving record.
Must be willing to work shift work including weekend work and overtime;
Must meet Transport Canada Security clearance requirement
Must agree to a criminal record check and pass an initial and continuing annual medical exam.
