Manager AOG
As WestJet becomes more complex and dynamic, we are seeking an AOG
leader reporting into our Procurement office.This individual can exhibit a high
standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent
must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile/
complex fast pace environment.
The leader will be expected to
ensure all activities related to AOG recovery occurs as quickly as possible
while containing costs where possible and having the ability to analyze the AOG
situation, provide guidance and recommendations supported by cost benefit
reasoning. An experienced leader with a
servant leadership style will drive a results orientated team providing
direction, support and training in the areas of AOG recovery, proactive problem
solving, vendor management, material sourcing, airline regulations and
logistical expertise.
Responsibilities:
Actively pre-plan, negotiate, and manage the best option available to
support WestJet’s Aircraft material requirements during AOG events
Manage a team working 24/7/365 and be available to support the AOG team
as required
Responsible to proactively train and educate team on logistics options
with 3rd party providers to support AOG events
Responsible to ensure material managed by the team is managed
throughout WestJet’s international and domestic network to support AOG and MEL
requirements while complying to airline regulations
Ensure expectations from MCC are clearly understood and relayed to AOG
team to ensure AOG recovery is completed as quickly as possible while advoiding
as much cost as possible
Communicate to MCC any information in regards to AOG statuses and
provide possible solution(s) with a sense of urgency
Responsible to support, monitor and expedite open AOG and MEL orders
from suppliers to ensure Maintenance delivery dates are met
Train and support AOG Team on international logistics to ensure smooth
customs clearance, compliance with local and international regulations, and
on-time delivery of material to rectify AOG
Possess the ability to work independently, handle multiple time
sensitive tasks and perform in a stressful environment
Create best practices in regards to purchase, loan, and exchange orders
in accordance to company policies, quality assurance requirements, and
documented procedures
Ensure all Dangerous Goods procedures are considered in accordance with
Transportation of Dangerous Goods Guidelines and IATA Dangerous Goods Shipping
Requirements
Prepare reports and metrics to monitor active and completed AOG demands
and KPI’s
Responsible to review vendor competencies and evaluate service
opportunities
Proactively coordinate reverse logistics to ensure parts are returned
to destination asap and all system work is up to date
Lead team providing support, direction and training aligned to all
people, AOG, MEL, req management and WestJet related functions, work and
process improvement.
Professional Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership position
Minimum 3 years experience working in a buying, logistics or supply
chain position or 3 years in the airline industry
Must have at minimum a diploma from a College or Technical School
Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and
Outlook) required
Purchasing or Inventory management designation is an asset
Knowledge of Aviation parts an asset
Experience in a procurement related role an asset
Experience with Trax would be considered an asset
Experience with Illustrated Parts Catalogue, Aircraft Maintenance
Manuals, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and MEL’s would be
considered an asset
IATA Dangerous Goods Certificate or Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Certificate is an asset
Ability to multi-task and make decisions in fast-paced, stressful
situations, while maintaining a calm and respectful work environment
Must possess a dynamic hunter style mentality when it comes to sourcing
material
Ability to communicate and get along well with others in a team
oriented environment
Superior decision-making and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills,
and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
