Overview
The Customer Service Ambassador will provide customer care support to all arriving and departing customers and processes at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The position is to assist with the smooth operation of YVR facilities and ensure all questions and concerns are answered accurately and efficiently. A Customer Service Ambassador must develop sound knowledge about the airport and city surroundings to provide passengers an acute level of assistance through their travel.
Reports to:
- Manager of Carillion, Customer Service @ YVR
Interfaces with:
- Client (+ all YVRAA employees)
- All YVR Stakeholders including, but not limited to; Securiguard, Aeroguard, RCMP, USCBP, CBSA, Greencoats, and all Airlines
AREAS
We provide service in many areas of YVR including, but not limited to:
- Lost and Found
- Customer Care Counters
- US Departures/In-Transit Preclearance Transfer Facility
- International Arrivals Hall
- FasTrack
- Summer Cruise Ship Operational Support
Customer Care Facts:
- We have held the contract for Customer Care at YVR since Spring 2005
- We provide Customer Care 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, we currently have over 250 Ambassadors with 150 on shift daily
- We offer flexible scheduling and currently have full time, part time and casual positions available
- We provide all Ambassadors with initial, classroom, on-floor and annual recurrent training

Specific Responsibilities & Duties:
- Direct passengers as required and handle general passenger inquiries
- Greet passengers with Hello/Bonjour, How can I help you today? And exit conversation with nicety.
- Report any safety, security, or environmental issues to the Operations Centre
- Anticipate changes in processes and in passenger volumes and work accordingly
- Proactively seek out passengers requiring additional customer service care and attention
- Offer high levels of consistent, personalized, sincere and engaging service
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year in customer service
- Previous experience in the Service industry, preferably with the Airport and/or an Airline
- High school diploma
- Ability to obtain Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) through Transport Canada
- Completion of First Aid Emergency training during first month of employment
Core Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy and effective reasoning skills
- Ability to work within a team as well as individually
- French abilities an asset
- Available for evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must have own means of transportation to commute outside of transit hours
