POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Manager, Flight Operations Training is responsible for conducting flight crew training in accordance with company procedures and the CARs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Operations:
- Ensure the Flight Operations training programs (Pilots, Flight Attendants, Dispatchers, Operations Personnel) are managed in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and internal company standards.
- Ensure training programs are developed and implemented in a timely manner to support the introduction of new policy, rules, instructions, and procedures, and new systems and modifications.
- Develop training strategies in conjunction with the Flight Operations department to ensure continuous improvement, standardization between fleet types where possible and to communicate/train instructors in the adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain Flight Operations Training Manuals.
- Oversee new-hire trainee progress through initial course from first contact after hire until release to line ops.
- Create Supports for Trainer Development (Flight Operations and Other Departments)
- Develop and Facilitate Flight Crew and Flight Attendant New-Hire Orientation, Initial General Training, Annual Recurrent General Training, including Crew Resource Management
- Conduct operational research on Flight Operations functions to support departmental planning and decision making
- Develop training strategies in conjunction with the Flight Operations department as a response to data trend and incident/hazard reports on aircraft types.
- Other duties as assigned

- Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis within your department
Safety & Leadership:
- Create and maintain a positive company culture that supports employee participation
- Carry out the duties of “Employee” as detailed in the SMS policy Manual
- Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department.
- Promote occupational health and safety within your department , and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
- Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department
- Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary;
- All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization; overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives;
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Min 2 years of training management experience, preferably in an aviation environment
- Post Secondary Education in a related field
- Preference will be given to Pilots, Flight Attendants or Certified Dispatchers
- Proven ability to maintain document control
- Strong operational knowledge
- Proven leadership skills (coaching, mentoring, influencer)
- Proficient with computers (MS Office)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels in the Company
- Must be able to acquire a Winnipeg Restricted Area Pass (enhanced security clearance)
