Vancouver Airport Authority has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an Intermediate Accounts Payable Clerk. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate payables processing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Organizing, electronically routing, filing, and updating vendor invoices
- Invoice entry and invoice modification in the invoicing module
- Following up with any problems with invoices, including following up with internal customers to obtain proper information to enable invoice entry
- Working closely and collaboratively with the Supply Management Team to resolve problem purchase orders to enable matching and payment
- Matching invoices to receipts and/or purchase orders
- Reviewing expense reports and purchasing card reports in the online tool
- Understanding corporate signing authority policy and verifying signing authority approval levels
- Responding to payment related inquiries from both internal and external customers
- Investigating and resolving invoice errors and invoice holds
- Ensuring compliance to corporate policies (i.e. Expense Reimbursement Policy, P-Card Policy, Petty Cash Policy)
- Performing Corporate Purchasing Card statement reconciliations
- Understanding sales tax (i.e. PST and GST) and non-resident withholding taxes and ensuring proper application of both to invoices
- Preparing preliminary payment runs
- Performing month end close procedures
- Performing system testing for accounts payable, if required as a result of modifications to accounts payable related processes
- Performing other administrative tasks as required
- One to two years’ recent, related experience in an office setting, preferably in an Accounts Payable role, supplemented by completion of grade 12 and complemented by relevant post-secondary education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Excellent data entry skills, including attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong and proactive communication and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to work independently
- Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
- Demonstrated experience with Oracle Financials or another complex accounting computer system
