We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Legal Department Assistant in the Legal Services Department reporting to the Director, Legal Services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the lawyers prepare legal documents and correspondence
- Providing word processing assistance to the legal department including formatting documents, processing revisions
- Provide administrative support to the lawyers in the department including filing, scheduling meetings, managing appointments, registration of memberships and conferences
- Communicating with company personnel and external counsel
- Maintaining the filing system for the legal department including opening files, ongoing filing, organizing files, closing files and digitizing files
- Manging the day-to-day operation of the document managing system including opening electronic files
- Conduct BC Online searches
- Working with the Airport’s legal team made up of other legal counsel, paralegals and clerks on team initiatives
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience as legal assistant or administrative assistant at a law firm or in-house legal department, supplemented by a high school diploma; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with word processing of documents is an asset
- Experience with a law firm document management system is an asset
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative
- Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive, highly confidential matters
- Positive attitude and the desire to join a close-knit and supportive team
