Our Airport operations is continuing to grow! We are looking to fill immediate vacancies for the GSA role at the Vancouver Airport, as well as building our talent pool for future vacancies that become available within the next 6 months. What is a Guest Service Ambassador (GSA)? Travelling is meant to be fun and not stressful, as a GSA you will play a vital role in interacting with our guests and being that first point of contact when they arrive at the airport. Your enthusiastic and positive attitude will help ensure our guests that you care about their travel experience and treat them how you would want to be treated. From putting on a bag tag to assisting guests to their gate, every detail counts and you perform tasks effortlessly and always with a smile. Specific responsibilities: Assist guests with self-serve kiosk check-in (print boarding passes/bag tags and show guests how to attach the tags to their checked baggage) Move and lift bags to baggage belts Assist our guests requiring special assistance including pushing wheelchairs, escorting unaccompanied minors, guiding people with visual impairments Operate assistive mobility devices for guests requiring assistance Make airport announcement using microphones and communicating with team members with handheld radios Ensure the check-in queues run smoothly by directing guests to the appropriate area Adhere to procedures, rules and regulations as stated by WestJet and Transport Canada regulations Handle concerns with empathy and solve guest challenges with empowerment Assist in grooming the aircraft (light cleaning of seats, seat-pockets, and floor) You should have these qualifications and skills for success in this role: Proven experience in a customer service industry, with no less than one year experience in a customer facing role A working knowledge with computers, and recent experience working within a Windows based software environment Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills Personal flexibility to work shift work which includes early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to multitask in a fast paced, time-sensitive environment A physical ability to consistently lift up to 70lbs/32kgs A professional, well-groomed appearance and able to adhere to our uniform standards Must be able to communicate with an advanced level of spoken English and an additional language from the following list will be an asset - French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, German, Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Portuguese Ability to meet all conditions of employment: Attaining a Restricted Area Pass issued by Transport Canada (must be legally able to work in Canada) to access restricted areas within the airport. What else should you know The GSA position is a highly physical role and you are required to be on your feet for long periods of time. Our GSA’s have no problem getting their steps in and it is recommended that a comfy pair of shoes and a pedometer are must haves! Other physical tasks may include, but are not limited to: assisting guests requiring mobility assistance (such as wheelchairs) and lifting/moving guest baggage. We will test your ability to assist in these tasks because performing your role safely is a priority for us.
