AIRPORT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST Regular Full-time


The Pitt Meadows Airport Society is currently hiring for a full-time Airport Operations Specialist to join our team of professionals at the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport.

Reporting to the Airport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining all airport airside and groundside infrastructure and facilities to the applicable regulatory standards and requirements. This includes proactive/reactive identification and mitigation of airfield safety risks and hazards ensuring corrective measures taken reduce/prevent incidents and/or accidents to airport users in accordance with the Airport Safety Management System as directed by Transport Canada. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operations and maintenance of airport airside and groundside surfaces, facilities, fuel systems, landscapes, and the operation of equipment and machinery. This position will assist in maintaining and updating airport regulatory documents and publications in accordance with applicable operating procedures, policies and regulations. You will oversee and manage the airport AVOP gate access program and apron parking plan. Various airport administrative tasks will be assigned on an ongoing basis.


A post-secondary education with an emphasis in airport operations and management is required. Proven experience in reviewing, updating, and amending of Transport Canada regulated airport manuals and publications is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in overall airport operations, including airport safety management systems, emergency preparedness and response, airport wildlife control, AVOP, issuance of NOTAMS, amendment of Canada Flight Supplement and Canada Air Pilot, and TP312 Standards and Recommended Practices. You must be able to plan, implement, and coordinate safety / maintenance programs in accordance with written regulations, procedures and policies. The candidate should have knowledge in airport fuel handling and quality control, landscaping and grass control, as well as the ability to perform maintenance on airport infrastructure such as access gates and airfield lighting. It is important that the chosen candidate have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as proven computer proficiency. The successful candidate will have a valid BC Class 5 (full privilege) driver’s license, a Restricted Radio Operator’s License (Aeronautical), and the ability to obtain a valid Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).
