Global Aviation Services - Ramp Manager (YVR)

 The Ramp Manager is responsible for executing the strategic and operational plan for the below the wing with strong leadership and team culture. The Ramp Manager will represent and influence our team with a focus on safety, developing our people, and aggressively manage costs within their control. You will model, guide and motivate front line leaders and agents to achieve priorities and take actions to support Global Aviation Services Mission, Vision, and Values. Execution is paramount including developing and managing the business plan supporting corporate and airports strategic plans, budgets and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors, Promotes and Coaches all Team Members to ensure all Safety requirements, procedures and policies set forth are being adhered to ALWAYS!
  • Ensure all Ramp Personnel are properly assigned and utilized. Develops team schedules as needed and maintains maximum use and efficiency of all Employees on duty. Oversees breaks and lunch periods to control Employee productivity.
  • Determine manpower requirements, preplan for hiring needs, conduct interviews and ensure all HR onboarding documents are completed. Assists in training Ramp Agents / Ramp Supervisors to ensure that they are aware of appropriate regulations, procedures, and Company policies.
  • Directs and coordinates department activities through subordinate supervisors and is responsible for coordination of Ramp Operations and Baggage Service. * Determines that aircrafts are properly serviced and provisioned prior to departure and that all forms and records are properly completed and maintained.
  • Ensures Ramp Supervisors / Agents comply with Ramp procedures, use of correct forms, tools and audit requirements established by the regulations and standards of the Company and those of our Business Partner.
  • Coordinates, as needed, with Operations, Customer Service, Maintenance, Provisioning, and Dispatch to maintain the stations on-time performance.
  • Monitors the handling and operating condition of all ramp equipment and all other tools and equipment needed for ramp services. Makes sure ground equipment is serviced and fueled as necessary. Conducts PMI checks on all ground equipment.
  • Investigates discrepancies and compiles statistical data for reports. Compiles and enforces the corrective action plan.
  • Manage, coach and develop subordinate supervisors and agents.
  • Prepare reports and records on department activities for upper management.
  • Evaluates the work performance of Ramp Supervisors / Agents to ensure that their work performance, attendance, and appearance meet Company and our Business partner requirements.
  • Manages / Maintains inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Liaison with internal and external customers and agencies.
  • Provides special care, attention, and assistance to Global Aviation Services Internal and External Customer's as needed.
  • Performs special tasks or assignments as delegated by Station Management personnel. Mentors Agents for future growth and maintains a team atmosphere.
  • Assist with all ramp team duties.
  • Log all flight activity to ensure accurate billing.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Station Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Airline or related leadership experience is desirable.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Must have a valid driver license with a good driving record.
  • Must have authorization to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to lift and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods. Must be able to work in cramped or high places.
  • Must be able to carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs.
  • Ability to work fast and under tight timelines to ensure timely flight departures with quick turns and the ability to handle many functions at once with many different offices and/or Team of people.
  • Need to be available to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays and overtime, as the operation may require.
  • Ability to type and/or use computer keyboard with sufficient speed.
