District of Muskoka - Airport Summer Student

Airport  Summer Student (May to August) 

Are you interested in aviation, Muskoka tourism and spending time outside? 

Every year, the District offers summer employment to students registered in post-secondary education and this year the Muskoka Airport is looking to hire an: Airport Summer Student 

This role provides support to the team in both operations and customer service at the Muskoka Airport. This job entails shift work and will be required to work days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays – averaging 80 hours over a two week period. There may also be opportunity to work overtime. Students should be available to begin work the first week of May and continue work through to the end of August. 

COVID safety protocols are in place for these jobs. You will gain four months of hands-on experience, open doors and build transferable skills for your future career. Responsibilities of the Airport Summer Student will include, but not be limited to: • Assisting with all aspects of airfield operations including marshalling, wildlife control and runway inspection • Aiding with fuel testing and fueling of corporate jets, turboprop, helicopters and a variety of private aircraft • Airline check-in services including baggage weighing, tagging and ticket processing, as required • Provide customer service duties including answering the telephone and directing visitors in an efficient, friendly and timely manner

The skills, experience and qualifications we are seeking for this job include: • Students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the following school year • A valid Ontario Driver’s License (minimum Class G2) • The ability to obtain an Aeronautical Restricted Radio Operator’s Certificate and Fuel Handling Certificates • Good organizational, customer service and communication skills If you have the necessary skills, experience and qualifications, and support our Vision and Values of RISE (Respect and Integrity, Innovative Leadership, Synergy and Experiences) please review the “How to Apply” instructions on our website and then submit your application.
