Safety and Quality Specialist - Heli-One

Role Summary

Heli-One Safety & Quality Specialists are accountable to the Manager, Safety & Quality and are responsible for tasks delegated to them by the Manager, Safety & Quality which may include, but is not limited to, the t asks identified in the Transport Canada, Maintenance/Manufacturing Policy Manuals and Foreign Regulatory Expositions/supplements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Manager, Safety and Quality in establishing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) required to comply with Heli-One policies and applicable national regulations;
  • Supporting the organization Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Development and Implementation of regulatory Maintenance Organization Expositions.
  • In the absence of the Manager, Safety and Quality, act as a liaison between the Organization and Transport Canada regarding Quality and related Maintenance and Manufacturing subjects;
  • Ensuring that the Quality Audit plan covers all activities under the scope of approval of the organization;
  • Ensuring that occurrences are investigated and monitor that appropriate root cause, preventive and corrective actions are implemented;
  • Supporting the S&Q Manager by ensuring that all findings identified by the Quality System are monitored and that corrective and preventive actions, including root cause analysis, are completed and followed-up in accordance with the timelines described in this manual and Standard CPA Response guidelines;
  • Ensuring that maintenance and manufacturing operations are monitored in order to determine compliance with applicable requirements;
  • Reviewing, granting and revoking certification authorities (ACA, SCA) in accordance with policies and procedures contained in the MPM and documents incorporated by reference;
  • Ensuring that internal and external audits are performed, as planned;
  • Responsible for the monitoring and action of for applicable occurrence reports logged in the Safety and Quality Integrated Data Base (SQID);
  • Ensuring that Service Difficulty Reports are submitted to Transport Canada and other regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure and Provide if required, internal additional Training requirements to support MRO qualifications.
  • Document change requests for Policy, Standards, Process reviews and revisions.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
  • Strong Knowledge of CARs 571, 573, 561 and other foreign authority regulations and Safety policies.
  • Current holder of Transport Canada AME M1/M2 or other foreign Maintenance Engineer licence is an asset.
  • Strong Safety Management System (SMS) background.
  • Previous experience in an approved Maintenance Repair Organization (MRO) environment.
  • Previous audit authorization or training an asset.
  • Excellent collaborative skills for Root Cause Analysis and guidance on corrective action.
  • Strong technical writing abilities for company policies, standards, processes and work instructions.
  • Self motivated and results oriented with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Ability to make excellent decisions and set appropriate priorities.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills an asset.
  • Office environment however performing audits at all Heli-One Canada facility Workshops and Hangars as outlined in the Transport Canada approved MPM.
  • Some travel audits may be required so valid passport is highly recommended.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is supplied and required in the workplace as posted.
